Following the death of their father, the Dashwood sisters—Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret—along with their mother, are left impoverished and forced to leave their family estate, Norland Park. They relocate to a modest cottage in Devonshire, offered by a distant relative.

There, the practical Elinor forms a deep attachment to the shy and honorable Edward Ferrars, but his family’s ambition and a secret engagement threaten to keep them apart. Meanwhile, the romantic and passionate Marianne falls recklessly in love with the dashing John Willoughby, only to be devastated when he abandons her for a wealthy heiress.

Guided by the loyal Colonel Brandon, the sisters must weather scandal and heartbreak. Elinor learns to share her burdens, and Marianne learns that love requires more than just passion. In the end, both sisters find love with men who appreciate their unique strengths.
